About
We build free, practical engineering tools and study material for electronics and electrical power — the kind we wanted when we were students.
What we do
Cursory Solutions is a small independent software studio working at the intersection of electronics and software. We publish engineering reference material and design tools on Android and on the web, and we keep them free to use. Everything here is built and maintained by practising engineers rather than assembled from scraped content.
What's on this site
Circuits reference
A growing library of electronic circuits and projects spanning embedded, digital and analog electronics. Each entry collects a schematic, the bill of materials, PCB layouts, hex files, firmware source code and datasheet links, and credits the engineer who designed it.
SMPS filter design calculators
Calculators for the common switch-mode power supply converters — asynchronous and synchronous buck, boost, inverting buck-boost, Cuk, SEPIC, Zeta and flyback. Enter your input and output voltages, current, switching frequency and ripple targets, and component values update as you type.
Induction motor design
Stator sizing for a three-phase induction motor, worked the classic way: rated output gives the apparent power, the output coefficient and the specific loadings fix the bore volume, and the winding, slot and yoke dimensions follow from flux and current density.
Power system diagrams and state estimation
Two tools for IEEE Common Data Format network files: an interactive single-line diagram, and a full AC weighted-least-squares state estimator with observability analysis and bad-data detection. Both run entirely in the browser, so network data never leaves the user's machine.
Urdu engineering books
Engineering textbooks written in Urdu by Khalid Khan Yousaf Zai, covering Electronics, Electric Machines, Digital Circuits, Electromagnetics, Circuit Analysis, Engineering Mathematics, and Calculus and Analytic Geometry. Most engineering material exists only in English, which puts an extra barrier in front of students who think and learn in Urdu. These books exist to remove that barrier.
Who it's for
Engineering and DAE students, hobbyists, makers, and working engineers who want a quick reference or a sanity check on a calculation.
