This circuit is designed and simulated in Proteus 7.10. This is very useful circuit for measuring and displaying frequency without microcontroller. 1. This digital tachometer circuit is the combination of two circuits a) Frequency to voltage converter. b) Digital voltmeter. 2. Both circuits are explained in previous circuits, it is recommended to understand Frequency to Voltage Converter and Digital Volt meter circuit separately. 3. This circuit first convert frequency to analog voltage and then convert analog voltage into digital display. 4. Calibration can be done by adjusting RV1. 5. For calculating RPM (revolutions per minute), multiply the digital display with 60. 6. The range of this circuit is from 10Hz to 1999Hz. 7. Range can be increased or decreased by varying RV1 and by changing capacitor C1A. Application: 1. This circuit can be used to measure the frequency of a digital signal. 2. This circuit can also be used to measure the rpm of motor. Note: More circuits are coming soon.
