Max1724 1.5V to 5Vdc Boost Converter

Notes

This circuit is designed, developed and simulated in Proteus 7.10. In this circuit 1.5Vdc cell voltage is boosted to 5Vdc. The pcb file is also attached. 1. In this circuit IC MAX1724EZK50 is used, which is a fix 5V boost regulator. 2. The switch is built-in the IC, therefore only inductor and capacitor is needed as external components. 3. The current is very limited, which is 150mA. 4. A 10nF capacitor is placed at input and also on output to filter high frequency noise. 5. The shut down pin (pin3) is active low, therefore it is tied to pin 1 (BATT). 6. A red LED is placed at the output, which shows that output is available. 7. The input is 1.5Vdc (single cell) and can be vary to 3Vdc (dual cell) and output is fix 5Vdc as shown in animation. Application: 1. This circuit can be used to generate 5Vdc from small 1.5Vdc cell. 2. This circuit can be used as mobile charger because its output is 5Vdc. Note: More exciting circuits will be coming soon.
