This circuit is designed and simulated in Proteus 7.10. In this circuit a full wave rectifier using two diodes is simulated and working of this circuit is given below. 1. A diode bridge is used to make full wave rectifier. 2. In this circuit you will learn that how a full wave rectifier is made using two diodes (for center tap transformer output) and how it works. 3. A sine wave signal of peak 220V is applied. 4. The center point of transformer output is considered ground (reference point) and a diode is placed at uper winding and one diode is placed in lower winding, and cathod point of both diodes are common and it is positive point of output, negative point is ground point. 5. The output is taken across the resistor, which is shown in yellow color. 6. A sinosoidal wave has two cycles, positive cycle and negative cycle. 7. When positive cycle comes, which means positive voltage at upper wire, the D1 diode become forward bias and diode D2 become reverse bias. 8. When negative cycle comes, which means negative voltage at upper wire, the D2 diode become forward bias and diode D1 become reverse bias. 9. When a diode is forward bias, it is in conduction mode and signal passes through diode. The voltage drop across the diode is 0.7V. 10. The amplitude of yellow wave is 0.7V less because 0.7V is droped across diode. 11. The direction of current through resistor is same in both cycles. 12. This is called full wave rectifier. Applications: 1. This circuit can be used to understand full wave rectifier of center tap input. 2. This circuit can be used to make dc voltage power supply from ac voltage.
