Notes

This circuit is designed and simulated in Proteus 7.10. You can make similar circuit in your advance version of proteus. Come back daily to get new amazing circuits. This is a simple circuit of Ring Oscillator. The working of this circuit is given below: 1. In this circuit one nand gate (74HC00) and three not gates (74HC04) are used. 2. The resistors (R1, R2 and R3) and capacitors (C1, C2 and C3) are used to add some propagration delay (can be used as phase shift oscillator). 3. The output of each stage can be seen on the oscilloscope, the final outut is in bluw color. 4. You can add further stages or can remove any stage if you want. 5. The frequency can be adjusted by adjusting propagation delay and formula is f = 1/(2*t*n) where t is time delay of single inverter, and n is number of stages. 6. The final output has sharp edges (close to square wave) because there is no RC filter at final output, and rest are approximately sine waves because of RC filter. Application: 1. This circuit can be used to understand the working of ring oscillator. 2. This circuit can be used add phase shift in the input signal. Download these files to perform more experiments.
