This circuit is designed and simulated in Proteus 7.10. In this circuit you will learn how very low (micro ampere) current is converted into voltage. 1. In this circuit simple opamp and a resistor is used to convert current into voltage. 2. When current flows through resistor R3 or R2, the voltage is droped across resistor and voltage is calculated using ohm's law. V = IR. 3. The resistor R4 and R1 are optional. 4. The resolution or gain can be increased by increasing feedback resistor R3 (or R2). 5. Both positive and negative voltages are applied to opamp to convert both positive and negative voltage. 6. The left circuit shows negative output voltage and right circuit shows positive voltage according to current direction. 7. The gain is 100,000 (100K), in this circuit micro ampere current is amplified in the form of voltage by 100K. 8. The input current is not dependent on resistor R2 or R3. Applications: 1. This circuit is used to measure very low current (micro ampere). 2. This circuit is used to measure very precise current. 3. This circuit is used to convert current signal into voltage signal.
