Solar MPPT Charger Controller

Category: Example Projects

Designer: RANA MUHAMMAD ADNAN KHALIL

Notes

This is an example project for Electronics hobbyist who want to make their on home made solar mppt charger. These chargers are very expensive in the marker and cheap chargers are mostly simple PWM only. So you can make your own solar MPPT Charge Controller with the help of this circuit. 1. The Schematic and PCB is made in Altium Designer. 2. Firmware is written in MPLAB X IDE and HITEC compiler is used. 3. Before using this circuit it is recommended to see the following circuits, because these concepts are used in this circuit, so these circuits will help you understanding the solar MPPT charge controller circuit. i) Transistor as a Switch in Transistor Logic category. ii) Bootstrap Concept given in Miscellaneous category. iii) Buck Converter in Switch Mode Power Supplies Category. 4. NPN transistor are used to derive the NMOS IRF3808. 5. This is a non-isolated topology, which means input and output grounds are common. 6. Output inductor L1 and capacitors are used to filter the switching pulses, this is actually a low pass filter, which filters the high frequency pulses of PWM. 7. The Schematic files are given and attached. 8. Two layer PCB of this circuit is also designed and attached in the files. 9. Firmware files are also given. 10. All files are given, so if you want to move on or want to customize your solar mppt charge controller. 11. Just download the files and customize according to your need. 12. You can customize this project for 24V and 48V. Application: 1. This project can be used as switch mode power supply. 2. This project can be used as solar mppt charger. 3. This project can be used as simple buck converter for both synchronous and asynchronous mode. 4. This project can also be used as battery charger.
