PIC18F4520 Development Board With 24 Bit ADC

Category: Example Projects

Designer: RANA MUHAMMAD ADNAN KHALIL

Notes

The Schematic and PCB are designed in Altium Designer. It is recommended to use the latest version of Altium Designer. 1. This is an example project for how to interface SPI interface based 24 bit ADC. 2. The microcontrollers normally have 8-bit, 10-bit or maximum 12 bit ADC, but if you need very high resolution the external ADC of 24 bit can be used. 3. The resolution of ADC depends on number of bits, higher the number of bits, higher the resolution. 4. In this sample circuit AD7714 is used for 24 bit ADC, which is very high resolution. 5. Some applications require very high resolution especially medical equipement. 6. Advance research of analog circuits also require high resolution. 7. For example ECG, EEG and MRI data circuits require very high resolution. 8. LCD is also interfaced to display the result of ADC. 9. SD card interface connector is also placed to store the result of ADC. 10. Indication LEDs are also placed to display status of processing or code. 11. ICSP connector for In-Circuit programming is also placed. 12. You can use PICkit-3 for programming the device. 13. The PIC18F4520 microcontroller is used for this circuit, you can change the microcontroller according to your need. 14. MPLAX IDE and MPLAB XC8 can be used to write firmware. 15. The required circuit for microcontroller is also placed like decoupling or filter capacitors and resistors. 16. The PCB is also designed and included in this circuit. 17. All files are given, so that anyone can modify circuit or PCB according to customized requirement. 18. Just write your code and make your project.
